Mom, wife, photographer

Of all the things I've done in life, becoming a mom has been my proudest and most fulfilling yet. He is my reason, my motivation and my reminder of what it's all for.

My Backstory

I am a simple, small town kinda girl who is really proud of the small business she's built. Wedding and portrait photography has been my life for 17 years - for 14 of those years I enjoyed having my husband alongside me at every single wedding, engagement and bridal portrait session. We worked tirelessly building our business together after he finished his time in the Marine Corps; lots of all nighters spent editing, lots of summer Saturdays sweating but laughing with wedding parties on the beaches of the Crystal Coast. Some of our very first clients are now parents to teenagers (a bittersweet thought!). We had our son in 2022 and my husband has since built Victor Cano Films and while we no longer work wedding weekends together, we enjoy our most important role of our life together, being mama and dada to our little boy, Franky.

A formal education in photography is not something I will pretend to have. I am entirely self taught and "cut my teeth" by jumping in feet first to wedding photography at 22 years old with a Nikon D80 and a wild entrepreneurial spirit in 2009. I have learned by doing and yearning to be better and that part of me remains alive as a creative and business owner.

My Approach

I'm sentimental to a fault and can intuit the feelings of those around me. Aside from the technical skill around using cameras and flashes and lighting, these are the two parts of my nature that I believe make me particularly suited to wedding photography. Seventeen years of witnessing the flow, inner workings, and emotions of a wedding day has given me the experience of crafting a timeline, working with different personalities, and collaborating with the rest of the creative team to execute a fun and easy experience for a couple and their guests.

It's important to me to put you at ease in front of my lens, guide you through posing in a way that feels natural and fun. I'm also always keenly aware of the moment and when it's appropriate for me to fade into the background, allowing you the space for to fully experience your day with your people.

This is where I'm meant to tell you all the magazines and blogs my work has been published in. But if I'm being totally honest, my favorite feature is in frames and photo albums in the homes of my clients. Sincerely.
