Curtis & Emily's engagement session in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach, NC | Cynthia Rose Photography
How did you meet? Curtis and I were both sophomores at NC State when we met. It was a snow day with no school and a group of my girlfriends ended up going over to his house. I knew a lot of his friends but had never heard of Curtis or seen him before. As soon as I saw him I was completely blown away and we hit it off immediately. He's a lot quieter than I am so it took a lot of me approaching him, but in the end I was surprised to hear from him the next day telling me that I should come hang out with them more often. The rest is history!
Tell us your proposal story! Curtis is now in the Coast Guard and we had always talked about us being engaged after I graduated from college. Needless to say, I was definitely a little caught off guard when he proposed three months earlier than planned! Our parents had not met yet and we were all going to have drinks and then go to a Carolina Hurricanes game together since Curtis and I love them. I was a little suspicious because Curtis told me that we should take some pictures that night- and he never wants to take pictures! His parents had brought their nice camera and we alternated taking pictures on my front steps with our parents and just us two. He asked for one more picture and then he got down on one knee. He even arranged for my best friend to surprise us and had her hiding in the bushes in front of my house taking pictures. When Curtis asked my dad for my hand in marriage, my parents thought it would happen at the game so even they were surprised when he did propose! It was so special because it was in front of our parents and on the front steps of my childhood home that I've lived in for the past 12 years - my family is moving out of town at the end of this month.
