If you could pick one moment that stands out to you as the best on your wedding day, what would it be? How can we pick just one moment?! We loved every minute. Being surrounded by all of the people that we love the most was definitely the best. We thoroughly enjoyed the dance party with all of our friends & family. We wish we could do it all over again because we had so much fun!

During your wedding planning, what was your vision for your wedding day? FUN, FUN, FUN! We really wanted to focus on having fun and staying true to ourselves. We looked at a lot of venues and in the back of our minds we kept thinking "Wouldn't it be awesome if we could have our reception at Jack's?" - After asking nicely (or begging), the team at Jack's agreed to close their doors to the public for a few hours and allow us to have our reception there. Both Max & I grew up near the water and it's a place that both of us find so much joy & happiness, so it was essential that we got married near the water. Jack's was the perfect vibe for us and we were so happy to show off MHC to our friends & family.

Describe any special traditions, personal mementos, or helpful friends/family members who played a sentimental role in your wedding planning or wedding day. All of our family and friends made our wedding so special. We had guests travel from far & wide to make our wedding weekend perfect.

Our MOH, Catherine, traveled all the way from Okinawa, Japan to be with us on our wedding day. Our Best Man, Chris, traveled from San Diego, California to celebrate. Our wedding guests traveled from Massachusetts, New York, Seattle, Louisiana, Florida, DC, and all across NC! We are so thankful for everyone who made the journey to be with us.

We also received so much help and support from our family during the planning process. Val, Max's mom, is an excellent event planner and she spent countless hours with us, making sure our day was just what we wanted it to be. We are so blessed to have such an amazing family! !

What made you choose your venue(s) for your wedding day? We had our ceremony at the Dock at Big Rock Landing which was beautiful and unique. After deciding we HAD to have our reception at Jack's, we realized that we should probably find a place to have our ceremony. The brand new Dock at Big Rock Landing seemed like the perfect spot, although no one else had been married there. After working with the city to get permission, we scored the most perfect ceremony spot. It's such a special place on the MHC waterfront, with amazing views, and only a short walk down to Jack's!

What was your First Dance song? Is there a special story behind it? "Die a Happy Man" by Thomas Rhett - We spent some serious time contemplating the perfect first dance song. Only a couple of weeks before our wedding, we heard this song as we were riding in the car. We both loved it and the lyrics that really stood out to us. The chorus of the songs mentions "the Eiffel Tower at night" which is special to us because we got engaged under the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower. The song also references driving a sports car up the coast of California. Knowing that our honeymoon was going to include a drive up the coast of California, it was a seriously PERFECT song for us.

What was one wedding planning decision that proved invaluable? Hiring Cindy & Victor to photograph our wedding was the most valuable decision we made. The photos were the most important part to us, so we wanted to make sure that we made a great investment. After seeing our incredible engagement photos, we felt so much comfort in knowing that this team would capture all of the special moments at our wedding. Cindy & Victor ended up being much more than wedding photographers and were such a huge help on our wedding day.
