If you could pick one moment that stands out to you as the best on your wedding day, what would it be? Jennifer: "The whole day was filled with so many special moments that contributed to making our wedding day truly the best day of our lives! If I had to choose just one it was each time I read one of Drew's sweet and thoughtful handwritten notes that he specifically timed for me to read throughout the day. They were labeled for times like, "When You Wake Up", "When You're Getting Ready", "Before You Walk Down The Aisle". We chose not to see, text, or talk to each other on our wedding day until the moment I walked down the aisle, so the special notes throughout the day made the moment that we saw each other even more special!
Drew: "seeing Jennifer in her dress for the first time walking down the aisle towards me was the best moment on our wedding day. I just kept thinking how lucky I am to be marrying such a beautiful woman!"
Mutually we'd agree that a very close second to these moments was when we had the chance after the ceremony to be alone together for two minutes, as husband and wife, without a camera or anyone else around and just let the reality of our special day soak in- it was pretty incredible!
During your wedding planning, what was your vision for your wedding day? "Rustic Elegant" was our vision for our wedding day. We love the idea of all things rustic- burlap, mason jars, twine, chalkboards, marquee signs, lace etc, but we wanted to add a little twist with an elegant feel as well. Our ceremony definitely felt more rustic, while our reception felt much more elegant. We loved that our venue perfectly mirrored our vision with the outdoor waterfront ceremony on the golf course and the reception in the Grand Ballroom with beautiful panoramic views of the Bogue Sound.
Describe any special traditions, personal mementos, or helpful friends/family members who played a sentimental role in your wedding planning or wedding day. There are many people that we owe many thanks to for helping throughout the wedding planning process and on the wedding day - especially our event coordinator, Barb Costanza, and our bridal party. They spent countless hours fulfilling last minute tasks the week leading up to the wedding. We can't thank them enough for not only their help, but for standing by us on our wedding day. We cherish each friendship dearly! However, the day wouldn't have been possible without my parents, Jim & Teresa, who worked tirelessly for an entire year to ensure our wedding day was everything we imagined it to be. Many late nights were spent wedding planning, many days were spent responding to my frantic texts and phone calls and many hours were spent creating many of the wedding favors and decorations. We will never be able to thank them enough for all of their help and for gifting us with the best gift we've ever received, our wedding day - the best day of our lives!
What made you choose your venue for your wedding day? Before we were engaged we frequently talked about our mutual desire for a beach wedding, but with Jennifer's family's tendency for bad weather to follow them wherever they go, we knew we needed a back-up option and that a wedding on the beach might not be doable! Shortly after Drew proposed we spent a weekend touring several venues and homes along the Crystal Coast. Our last venue tour was at the Country Club of the Crystal Coast. From the moment we walked in, we knew we had saved the best for last! It was the perfect venue to execute the vision we had for our wedding day. We loved the option for an outdoor waterfront ceremony on the golf course and the reception in the Grand Ballroom with beautiful panoramic views of the Bogue Sound. The team at the Country Club were so wonderful to work with, especially the Event Coordinator - Barb Costanza. We couldn't have done it without her!
What was your First Dance song? Is there a special story behind it? Our First Dance song was, "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran. Anytime this song would play on the radio, even prior to us selecting it as a First Dance song, we would blast it through the speakers of the car and sing it to each other as loud as we could. It quickly became "our song." When our DJ asked us for our First Dance song selection, we considered other options due to its growing popularity and our desire for something unique, but ultimately our hearts kept leading us back to it. Now, it's even more special than it was when it was just a song on the radio that we'd sing to each other - it has more of a significant meaning!
What was one wedding planning decision that proved invaluable? We didn't have a wedding planner, though I can't speak highly enough about our venue's Event Coordinator, Barb Costanza, who handled the day-of coordination and many tasks leading up to the wedding. She is definitely invaluable!
