If you could pick one moment that stands out to you as the best on your wedding day, what would it be? If I had to choose just ONE moment that stands out as "the best moment of our wedding day," it would most certainly be sneaking away from the reception to go to the beach just before sunset to take private photos with my new husband! This gave my husband and I a moment alone to relish it all of the excitement of our celebration while our amazing photographers captured the moments on film! These photos will forever serve as a reminder of that precious moment in our new married life together!
During your wedding planning, what was your vision for your wedding day? Throughout the planning process we envisioned our wedding day to be an elegant celebration, filled with our closest family and friends! We hoped our guests would thoroughly enjoy every aspect of our special day that we spent so many hours perfecting! I think these goals were accomplished and then some!
Describe any special traditions, personal mementos, or helpful friends/family members who played a sentimental role in your wedding planning or wedding day. I will never forget the father daughter dance I shared with my father, Franco Licciardi! He and I had practiced our dance to Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" since as long as I can remember. The only difference is that on my wedding day I didn't dare stand on his shoes as I had when we danced together when I was a little girl. It was extremely moving for both of us, as well as family members who remember the many occasions over the years when we had said "this is our song! --the song we'll dance together to at my wedding!" as we realized that precious moment had finally come true!
We also had two fabulous toasts made for us on our special day. One by my father Franco, who is from Italy, and doesn't enjoy speaking to large crowds, however with the assistance of my brother Fabio, was able to beautifully express his joy for my husband and I! The other toast was made by one of my new brother-in-laws, my husband's best man, Eric Montesano. Eric too, doesn't enjoy speaking to large crowds so in leau of the traditional best man speech, surprised us by choosing to perform a selection from "Cricket Sang to the Sun" for us on a marimba. This was such an unexpected and moving touch to an already perfect evening!
What made you choose your venue(s) for your wedding day? We chose our venue after searching high and low for venues across our beautiful hometown state of North Carolina as well as at various destination wedding locations. Once we saw the Ocean Club of Salter Path located a mere 20 minutes away from our home in Morehead City, we knew it would be the perfect backdrop for the dream wedding we were picturing! Between the beautifully landscaped garden, elegant column entrance, gorgeous indoor ballroom area, and both the ocean and sound accessible from within the property's grounds, we knew our guests would love it while providing us with plenty of choices from which to use as backdrops for our photos.
What was your First Dance song? Is there a special story behind it? We were very indecisive regarding the song for our first dance, and ended up selecting Meghan Trainor and John Legend's "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" only a few days prior to the wedding! It had just been released on the radio and from the first time we heard it we absolutely adored the lyrics and the feeling the song gave us. The lyrics express how you can only live for today because you never know what tomorrow will bring. Something we both try to emulate everyday in our lives together. We were so thrilled the song had been released so close to our wedding date and were ecstatic to share it with our special friends and family on our wedding day!
What was one wedding planning decision that proved invaluable? The one wedding planning decision I could not have done without was without a doubt the weddingwire application/website! This app was highly recommended by my now sister-in-law and she was right! I used the app for the checklist, budget tracker, guest addresses, guest replies, and seating chart! This app was not only free from the AppStore but also kept me on my toes throughout the planning process! It was certainly invaluable in every way and I highly recommend it to future brides!
