Julie + Kirk | Morehead City, NC engagement session

We absolutely love when couples come up with especially sentimental ideas for their photo sessions. As Julie tells it, there is a lovely family connection to her engagement ring.  The diamond from Julie's grandmother has been placed into a new setting in Julie's own engagement ring.  During Julie & Kirk's engagement session, we decided to honor her grandparents by recreating a special photo of them sitting on a park bench together.  We find these gestures incredibly sweet and the absolute reason why photography is so valuable.

We hope you love their engagement photos and we can't wait for Julie & Kirk's wedding next April!

From Julie & Kirk...

How did you meet? Kirk and I met in Charlotte after we graduated and started our first jobs out of college. Crazy enough, Kirk and I both went to North Carolina State University (Go Pack!), lived in the same dorm our freshman year, had the same major, both were members of Greek Life, lived within a few houses of each other off campus, and we never crossed paths - that we know of at least!

Tell us your proposal story! I had a work conference in San Fransisco, CA and was going to be gone for a week. Kirk and I had been talking about taking a trip together so we decided to plan it around my conference. Kirk explored the city while I worked during the day. One day he walked over 13 miles! Work was over for me on Friday but we stayed through the weekend to have time for a few extra trips, like Napa Valley and some time at the coast. Kirk planned a nice dinner at Scoma's on Fisherman's Wharf and before dinner we took a walk down a neighboring pier, looking for a good view of the sunset. The end of that pier had the perfect sunset over the Golden Gate Bridge. I was snapping pictures of the sunset and turned around to find Kirk on one knee. He asked, I said yes, and the rest is history! It truly was the perfect moment!

What has been your favorite part of being engaged? Kirk and I have been a part of a lot of weddings recently. We love celebrating our friends, but it has been so fun celebrating us!
